Hey Honey's Skincare Tips for Winter
Posted by Heather Stewart onAh, winter–'tis the season of hot cocoa, slippers, and ouch!–uncomfortably dry, cracked, and flaky skin. With the growing number of skincare products and moisturizers out there, it's easy to lose track of the right products and how to use them. Fortunately for you, we at Hey Honey have put together some of our favorite winter tips for a handy guide to use this season.
Winter Tip #1
Don't exfoliate too much, or use too many peel masks as this will dry out the skin even more. Stick to exfoliating only once a week, with a gentle yet moisturizing scrub like our Come Clean facial scrub with propolis and minerals. Follow up with a moisturizer like our Boost It Up honey rich moisturizer.
Winter Tip #2
Choosing skincare products with glycerin as an ingredient will help moisturize your skin. Glycerin is a humectant that helps to bind moisture to the skin. Products such as Don't Miss A Spot - Propolis, Good Night, Hands On, Love Your Body, and 911 Pro Gel will all soothe and relieve dry skin. Don't Miss A Spot - Propolis cleanser is very gentle and won't dry out your skin, which is ideal. Always follow up with a moisturizer.
Winter Tip #3
Just keep slathering on the moisturizer, especially on your hands. The skin on your hands is thinner and has fewer oil glands than the rest of your body so use our Hands On honey and propolis hand cream to avoid uncomfortable dryness and cracks on your hands. Another great moisturizer is our Love Your Body honey body lotion. Both of these products also have that wonderful glycerin ingredient.
Winter Tip #4
Look for products that contain allantoin and aloe, two ingredients that help to soothe dry and irritated skin. To keep a healthy beauty regime, use morning and night serums that include allantoin and aloe, like our Good Morning honey silk serum and our Good Night royal honey gel. These two serums are formulated to give your skin the healthy boost it needs in the daytime and repair your skin while you sleep, respectively. The Good Morning serum also works great as a makeup primer, and both serums can be topped with moisturizers for enhanced moisture.
Winter Tip #5
Our 5th and last tip includes the Two H's....Humidify and Hydrate! Central heating systems and space heaters may heat the house, but they put out hot dry air. Having a humidifier on will bring moisture to the air, which will allow your skin to be comfortable and moisturized even on the coldest days. Hook up small humidifiers throughout the house to disperse the moisture more evenly. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water. While it's a myth that water will make your skin look more youthful, drinking plenty of fluids will help to combat the common cold.
